The prosfora this week were provided by Tula Margellos and Eleonora Rieck. We need prosfora for future services. If you are able to make this beautiful offering to the church, please let Fr. Peter know.

Please continue to give Fr. Peter the names of your loved ones so that we can pray for their health and salvation at our weekly Paraklesis. Please specify whether you would like all or some of these names to be published in our bulletin so that our parishioners may add them to their daily prayers.

We do not have sponsors for the fellowship the next two Sundays.

For stewardship in 2014, we have $93,664 pledged so far, of the $100,500 budgeted/$118,715 needed for the 2014 budget. Please fill out a pledge form if you have not done so yet! Forms should be in the narthex.

The Vacation Church School sign-up sheets are available downstairs. Please sign your children up, so that we can plan for snacks and crafts, and look and see where you may be able to help.

Registration for the Metropolis of Chicago Family Synaxis Labor Day Retreat (August 29-31) is open. The cost is $250/family if you register by July 31. This year’s theme: A Sincere Interior Life: The greatest gift to our children. For more information see

Horizons Family Services and Habitat for Humanity. Volunteers as young as 10 may participate in preparing meals for Meals on Wheels, and those who are able to deliver meals have flexible opportunities to serve our neighbors in the Cedar Rapids community. We have also received a request for help from Habitat for Humanity, who is organizing a five-house build August 6-10. Please contact Fr. Peter if you are interested in helping with either program.

A big thank-you to everyone who has met with Jerry Minetos as he conducts a planning study for our parish. If you were unable to meet with Jerry, you can still participate in the process through an online survey available at: The deadline for submitting your questionnaire is Friday, August 1. Your comments to Jerry will be held in the strictest of confidence.
