As a security precaution, the side door will be locked except during Sunday services. During any service the doorbell will be turned off. Please come in the front door or ask for assistance during regular weekly services.

The food bank continues to have much need for donations. Each time Carrol takes food there they weigh the church's donation, and our gifts are much appreciated. The food pantry donation box is in the narthex area.

Parents, submit a letter to the parish council to request assistance for children going to camp this summer:

  • Fanari Camp is held in Green Lake, WI, June 16-22. The registration deadline is June 1. For more information and registration forms, visit
  • Camp St. George is an Orthodox camp of the Antiochian Archdiocese in Iowa, August 11-17. The registration deadline is June 30. For more information and registration forms, visit

The hymnology class will meet Sundays in the hall, June 16 – July 29. Parents may register for the summer program on the sign-up sheet in the hall or by emailing If not participating in the class, please do not enter the hall during class. Teachers are needed! See Fr. Peter or Maria Katsiris if interested.

Please let Fr. Peter know if you are interested in joining a women's book club over the months of June and July. The book to be discussed will be Fr. Lawrence Farley's Feminism and Tradition. Also, if you are interested in studying a book of the Bible, or a certain topic from an Orthodox perspective, please let Fr. Peter know, as he is trying to organize the education program for the fall and spring.

In June, we will begin summer hours: Orthros at 8:30 a.m., Liturgy at 9:30 a.m.

The Philoptochos Annual 'Ladies’ Night Out: Mini Golf & Dinner' will be held on June 11, 2013, at 3001 Wright Brothers Blvd. East, Cedar Rapids, for mini golf and Culvers (2435 Edgewood Rd. The Annual Commemoration of the ‘Fall of Constantinople’ presented by the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Chicago, the Archons of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, and the Hellenic Society of Constantinople, will be held on Wednesday, May 29, 2013, beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the Louis J. Elliott Gymnasium at St. Nectarios Church, 133 N. Roselle Road, Palatine, IL 60067.

SPRING DINNER: Thank you to all who helped by selling tickets and/or working at the event. We especially thank those who signed up and helped during this important fundraiser. Please remember to return any income from ticket sales and all unsold tickets as soon as possible. There are some leftover items for sale; if interested, please speak with Michael during fellowship.

FALL DINNER: It’s not too early to start planning for the next event, coming up on October 13. The sign-up sheet for helping at the event is posted in the church hall. As always, we need everyone’s help, so plan on attending and pick a shift or two that you can donate to this fundraiser.
