Prosphora this week were prepared by Mary Moscrip and Tula Margellos. We will soon need more prosfora. If you are able to make this beautiful offering to our church, please let Fr. Peter know.

Our Spring Dinner last Sunday was a successful event and we served about 640 meals. Thank you to all that sold tickets and worked at the event. Please remember to turn in any money collected from ticket sales as well as any unused tickets you still have. There are a few items left over that will be on sale on Sunday.

The work of the Building committee is mostly complete. We have worked hard for the last few months and over the next few weeks we will be holding informational meetings during fellowship to share our findings with you. Everyone is encouraged and invited to attend at least one of those meetings so that you become familiar with the options, have the opportunity to ask questions and discuss this with fellow parishioners. If necessary we can schedule such an informational meeting at a different time, just let Fr. Peter know if you are unable to attend a Sunday one. We are hoping that we will have a special Parish Assembly at the end of May to decide on this issue. Everyone’s participation is welcomed and encouraged so this would be a good time to fill out a Stewardship form for 2015 if you haven’t done so already.

Please check the sign-up sheet in the hall for opportunities to sponsor the Sunday fellowship in 2015.

Registration is open for Camp St. George. Online registration for Fanari is also available. As we have done in the past few years, St. John’s will be providing financial assistance to help defer the cost for our youth attending. Leadership 100 funds are available for Fanari Camp in addition to our own scholarships, so if you would like your children to attend but finances may be a restriction, please let me know as soon as possible in order to apply for all available scholarships.

Stewardship corner

In our Orthodox view of life, every part of our life is connected in some way to our Orthodoxy. There is nothing that is not what has come to be called “spiritual” and other things outside that realm. Feeding a hungry body is also feeding a hungry soul. (Think about fasting for a moment.) That is why the Church is involved in the whole life of every person. Our stewardship includes the sharing of time, talent and treasure for the salvation of the whole world. Our stewardship, as well, includes what we can contribute to the feeding of bodies and souls (even one at a time). Remember what Our Lord Himself said: … as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me. (from On Stewardship and the Orthodox Life on

If you haven’t done so yet, please fill out a pledge form for your 2015 stewardship! So far in 2015 we have $95,178 pledged out of $108,480 budgeted.
