Mark your calendars: the Spring Grecian Dinner is coming up next Sunday, May 4. This is an important fundraiser for our parish, and we need everyone’s help to sell tickets and volunteer for a successful event. Tickets will be distributed today. If you haven’t already, please sign up to help at the event.
The sign-up for fellowship is posted in the hall. There are still plenty of Sundays needing a sponsor.
We have an opportunity to raise funds for our church by working at a concession stand at events at the US Cellular Center. If you are interested in participating, please sign up in the hall. Please let Michael or Fr. Peter know if you would like to serve as one of the leaders of this project.
Stewardship: We have $92,104 pledged so far, of the $100,500 budgeted/$118,715 needed for 2014.
As we come close to the end of the academic year, Sunday school students attempting to complete the achievement program need to meet with Fr. Peter to check that they have achieved their program goals.
Greek Dinner Pastries: Thank you to those who have signed up to make pastries for the dinner. Please pick up your pans and phyllo today. Please return your baked goods (except galatouboureko) to church by May 3rd by 4 pm. Galatouboureko needs to be to the Scottish Rite Temple by no later than 10:30 am Sunday morning. We are still looking for another person to make Galatouboureko.
Other Events: On Thursday May 1st at the Wilson Ave Hy-vee, there will be a highlight on the Greek cuisine. The program will run from 4-6 pm.
Greek Dinner: Thank you to those who have signed up to help at the Greek Dinner, it is very much appreciated. However, there are still many slots left, especially in the evening from 4-8:30 ish. Please check your schedule and help if you can. The more help we have the faster our work gets done.
There will be a Catherine McAuley Center walk on Saturday, May 3, but with location change and more options for walkers. The event will be at the Lowe Park in North Marion. There is a one mile walk ( new) a 5 K run and a 5k walk. Entry fee for a T-shirt is $25.00 for adult, $15.00 for youth. Children under 3 are free. Time is 8:00 - 10:00 am (8:00 - 8:15 am kickoff). Baby Shower: We cordially invite all the ladies of St. John the Baptist to a Tea Party honoring Brenda and Kora Paxton, on Saturday May 17th from 1 pm to 3:30 pm in the Fellowship Hall at church. Please bring your own tea cup setting and a fresh cut flower from your garden which we will use in the arrangements adorning the tables.
