We have reached the glorious resurrection of the Lord, the promise of our resurrection. Having journeyed with Christ through His betrayal, crucifixion, and resurrection, we hear with the myrrh-bearing women, “the time for mourning has passed, weep not.” It is time to rejoice. It is my prayer that the journey of Great Lent has prepared us to be immersed in this most holy feast as we have never done before, for this is life and eternal life.
Each year, Lent calls us to ascend heights that we have never before reached. Each year, Lent calls us to draw nearer to God and closer in our likeness to Him. As we go through this repeated cycle year after year, we come to Pascha and the light of the feast illumines us; it shines in us and through us by the grace of God which envelops us. Each year, a new layer of the richness of the feast can be revealed to us. Each year, the experience of joy is familiar and yet new. Each year we get more of a taste of the joy that is to be eternally ours in the eternal kingdom.
I hope and pray that the light of Christ has enlightened us, so that we may truly rejoice in His resurrection. Having the fullness of this joy, let us proclaim with all our heart, soul, mind, and certainly with our voice: Christ is risen!
With love in Christ,
