Parish Assembly Meeting - Sunday, November 16. Please mark your calendar and prepare to attend the Fall Parish Assembly. In addition to being in good canonical standing with the Church, the Archdiocese Regulations and our bylaws also state that all Eligible Voters need to fill out a Pledge Form (Stewardship Commitment Card) for 2014, pay all prior year balances at least 30 days before the Parish Assembly, and pay at least 75% of the current year’s pledge by the date of the Parish Assembly. Remember, if there is financial hardship to fulfill your pledged amount, speak to Fr. Peter and all adjustments will be made accordingly. Eligible Voters can submit questions in writing to be addressed at the Parish Assembly. Please submit your questions to Fr. Peter or Michael Christodoulou by Nov. 9, so that we have enough time to prepare answers.

Thanks to all who helped with the Fall Dinner preparations and during the event. It was a successful fundraiser with almost 650 meals served. Please remember to return any income from ticket sales AND any unsold tickets you may still have.

Please check the sign-up sheet in the hall for opportunities to sponsor the Sunday fellowship hour. Most Sundays in Advent still need sponsorship.

The Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Chicago announces a concert by Greek singer George Dalaras on Sunday evening, November 30, 2014, at Chicago's Harris Theater in Millennium Park, with all proceeds to benefit the St. Iakovos Camp and Retreat Center. Information is available now on chicago.goarch.org.

The Christmas Play will be on Sunday, December 14, after the Divine Liturgy. Christmas Play Rehearsals will be held on Sunday, November 9, 16, 23, and December 7. There will be no rehearsals on Sunday, November 30. They will begin during fellowship (after everyone has had a snack/meal). The dress rehearsal will be on Saturday, December 13, after the Divine Liturgy (11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.). If you are not able to attend a scheduled rehearsal please notify Maria Katsiris (mariakatsiris@yahoo.com or 319-373-0777).

Help is needed on December 7 to put up and decorate the Church Christmas Tree. We ask for some volunteers to put up the tree and prepare the ornaments so the children may decorate the tree after Christmas Play Rehearsals. If you would like help with the Christmas Tree this year contact Maria Katsiris.

If you are sponsoring one of our Sunday School Students in the Achievement Award Program please turn in you contribution so that we may place the order for the icons. They are made to order and the supplier needs time to prepare them. Thank you for your continued support of this program.

Two former parishioners of St. John, Ann Thomas and Greg Spanos, fell asleep in the Lord recently. May their memory be eternal.
