·    MEMORIAL SERVICE offered by the Dancer family today for George (Jeffrey) Dancer, Vincent Ruggieri, and Ilias Khouri. May their memory be eternal!
·    ORTHODOX BOY SCOUTS – Congratulation to Nikalaus Huerter and Nicodemus White for completing the St. George Orthodox Boy Scouts program. They will receive the St. George Medal.
·    FALL GREEK DINNER  - Thank you to everyone for your hard work for this past fundraising dinner. We served about 700 meals. Left over food was donated to Green Square Meals. Food items are available for sale during fellowship today (Gyros: $35/box, Olives: $4/lb, Feta: $4/lb, Pita: $3/bag, and pastries at 75 cents each). All ticket sale income and/or left over ticket must be turned in to Michael Christodoulou as soon as possible.
·    PARISH ASSEMBLY NOV. 15, 2009 – A list of eligible voters can be seen on the bulletin board in the church hall. Please speak to Michael or Fr. Ciprian, if your name is not currently on the list.
·    TUEDAY, OCT. 20TH CLASSIC OLDIES RIVER CRUISE – This event is organized by our Seniors Group but it is OPEN TO ALL PARISHIONERS interested. The Cruise boards at 10:30am from Moline, so we will leave our church at 8:30am. If you are interested, it’s still not too late to talk to Edie and get signed-up, just be sure to do so TODAY.
·    THE MESSENGER (NOV-DEC NEWSLTTER) – Thank you Lance, Maria, Edie, Helen D., and Elleni H. for submitting on time. Late submissions are still accepted, but please hurry J. ALL NEWSLETTER SUBMISSIONS (including picture attachments) should be emailed to stj.news@gmail.com - if needed, you can submit your announcements to Fr. Ciprian on paper.
·    MISSIONARY TRIP TO ORTHODOX ORPHANGE AND MONASTERY IN GUATEMALA – NOV. 4-14, 2009 – Laryssa Klein will be serving on this trip. We are collecting children’s clothes, toys and other items. Please grab a list of items from her during fellowship.
·    HOPE Event – Everyone will meet at church by 10:45am when we will drive to the Fire Station by COE College. Everyone is encouraged to grab lunch together somewhere afterwards.
·    CHANGES TO SCHEDULE OF SERVICES – 9am Orthros & 10am Divine Liturgy for the St. Demetrios the Great Martyr and Myrrhbearer (St. George will join us in worship); SACRAMENT OF HOLY UNCTION on Sunday, November 1 at 3:30pm (instead of the evening prior as specified in the Messenger)
·    BLESSING OF MARRIAGE - Joseph and Nicole Wright who have been recently received into the Orthodox Church (together with their daughters Katie and Samantha) will have their marriage blessed in the Orthodox Church this coming Thursday, October 22 at 6:00pm. Everyone is invited to the service; cake and drinks will be offered afterwards.
·    WEDDING ANNIVERSARIES – Coincidently this week also marks the Wedding anniversaries of  the Wrights, the Allans, the Huerters, and the Sases J Isn’t it something?
·    FOOD BANK – Reminder that we continue to collect non-perishable food items for the Linn County Food Bank.
·    CLERGY-LAITY ASSEMBLY IN MILWAKEE, WI – Nov. 4-7, 2009 – Fr. Ciprian will be out of town for those days. There will be no Vespers on Saturday, November 6. This assembly also includes a trip to the newly purchased Metropolis Camp and Retreat Center on Friday, November 6. If interested to participate in the assembly or see the Center, talk to Fr. Ciprian.
·    PHILOPTOCHOS THANKSGIVING LUNCHEON – scheduled for Sunday, November 8.
