•    MEMORIAL SERVICE – George Karras (brother of Tom Karras) fell asleep in the Lord 1 year ago. May his memory be eternal and his soul rest in peace among the saints.
•    ORTHODOX ICONS AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE – The Outreach and Evangelism committee (who organized all our church’s old/donated icons stored in boxes) is in charge of the Icon Sale in the church hall today during fellowship. The purpose for this icon sale is to find each of these icons an appropriate home. They have been priced accordingly, so please have a look.
•    SUNDAY SCHOOL – Reminder to all the parents that Level 3 and Level 4 classes (school grades 7-12) take place right before the Divine Liturgy starting at 9:15am. There will be no Sunday School next Sunday, October 11 due to the Greek Dinner and change in service times.
•    GREEK SCHOOL – Our first Beginners’ Class for Adults will start this Wed, Oct 7th at 5:30pm. A new Level One (Beginners) class for children will start on Wed, Oct 7th at 4:30 p.m. Please bring a notebook and a pencil. Book orders will be taken during both classes this Wednesday. If you would like to register for either class please contact Maria Katsiris (319-373-0777) or Harry Kitsos (319-365-2780). Both of these classes are only about 50 minutes long and scheduled back-to-back, so please be PROMPT and arrive about 10 minutes prior to the scheduled class start time.
•    CHURCH MAINTENANCE/IMPROVEMENTS – A new and much improved (but still cheaper ) security system was installed; the occasion prompted the rekeying of the locks. Everybody who receives a key will choose your personal code and be trained on how to use the new system. Several of you will receive a key and be trained on the new system today during or after fellowship. If you are mistakenly overlooked, please talk to Fr. Ciprian or Michael Christodoulou.
•    GREEK FALL DINNER – SUNDAY, OCTOBER 11 (11am-7pm) – If you have not already received tickets to sell or you need more, please speak to Michael Cristodoulou or Fr. Ciprian. Reminder that (according to our bylaws) every household is responsible for selling (or purchasing) a minimum of 10 tickets per adult for the Fall Dinner. The success of this dinner is very important as our church is hurting a little bit financially this year. Let’s do the best we can with the ticket sales, the volunteer time (sign-up sheet in the church hall) and pastries preparations or donations (Philoptochos – Eleonora). Pastries prepared by the ladies should be brought to church on Sat, Oct 10th at 5:30pm. Services for Sunday, October 11 are Orthros (8am) and Divine Liturgy (9am).
•    PHILOPTOCHOS – Please note that the next meeting is on Tuesday, October 13 (NOT Oct 6).
•    SENIOR CITIZENS JOINT EVENT WITH SISTER CHURCHES IN QUAD CITIES – TUE, OCT. 20 – This event is organized by our Seniors Group but it is OPEN TO ALL interested. The event will be a Riverboat Cruise (celebrationbelle.com) from 11am-3pm (leave our church at 8:45am). Please sign up on the bulletin board if interested and/or talk to Edie for more details about the event. Parishioners from East Moline and Rock Island will meet us at the event. This is a great opportunity to enjoy some fellowship with fellow parishioners from other orthodox churches.
•    THE MESSENGER (NOV-DEC NEWSLTTER) – The deadline for the upcoming issue of The Messenger is Thu, Oct. 15. Reminder all ministry leaders to start thinking about your ministry group’s events for those two months (speak with Fr. Ciprian if necessary) and submit your announcements ON of BEFORE the deadline (OCT 15). Parishioner announcements should be submitted by the same deadline. ALL NEWSLETTER SUBMISSIONS (including picture attachments) should be emailed to stj.news@gmail.com - of course, you can also submit your announcements to Fr. Ciprian on paper, if needed.
•    His Eminence Metropolitan Iakovos sends His hierarchal blessings from East Moline.
