Parents are welcome to stay, and are encouraged to stay for the Hope group age and younger. Event will be from 6:30 to 8:30. Please RSVP to Jess by phone or email at jessnjimw@msn.com. We can get directions to anyone who needs them.

Baby Shower: We cordially invite all the ladies of St. John the Baptist to a Tea Party honoring Brenda and Kora Paxton, on Saturday, May 17, from 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm in the fellowship hall at church. Please bring your own tea cup setting and a fresh cut flower from your garden which we will use in the arrangements adorning the tables. We will serve hot tea, cold iced tea, coffee, lemonade, cake, and a lot of happiness. We would appreciate an RSVP by next Sunday, May 11, to Regina Christodoulou: (319) 804-9665.

The prosforon this week was provided by Regina Christodoulou.

This past Sunday we had no sponsorship for our weekly fellowship. I missed seeing all of you around the tables, having the opportunity to say good morning, and seeing if there were any birthdays for which to sing. Our fellowship is a beautiful part of our church family and I would like to ask those of you who have not signed up to sponsor a Sunday this year to do so as soon as possible. The sign-up for 2014 is posted in the church hall and there are many Sundays available in the near future.

We have an opportunity to raise funds for our church by working at a concession stand at events at the US Cellular Center. If you are interested in participating, please sign up in the hall. Please let Michael or Fr. Peter know if you would like to serve as one of the leaders of this project.

Stewardship: We have $92,104 pledged so far, of the $100,500 budgeted/$118,715 needed for 2014.

As we come close to the end of the academic year, Sunday school students attempting to complete the achievement program need to meet with Fr. Peter to check that they have achieved their program goals.

On Friday, May 30, all of the youth are invited to take a hike, enjoying God's creation at the Indian Creek Nature Center. Meet at the parking lot at 6:30 pm. If your child needs a ride, let Jess White know. We should be done by 7:30. A light snack will be provided, and parents are encouraged to stay with anyone 6 and younger.
