·       TODAY – FELLOWSHIP FOR 2011 – We’d like to have all or most of the spots filled by you with your preferred Sunday. Assigning Sundays should be the last resort, please use the SIGN-UP LIST.

·       TODAY – POINSETTIA DONATIONS – If you’d like to donate toward the cost of the the beautiful Poinsettias that helped beautify our church for Christmas and these days which follow, please sign your name on the Sign-Up List and give Michael Christodoulou the check.

·       TODAY WALL CALENDARS FOR 2011 are available in the Narthex. Feel free to grab one.

·       DONATIONS ENVELOPE BOXES for those who like to use are available in the Narthex.

·       STEWARDSHIP – Please fulfill your stewardship pledge for 2010 a.s.a.p. and, if you haven’t already done so, fill out the new and shortened Stewardship Commitment Card for 2011.

·       ANNA SHABANI fell asleep in the Lord on Fri, Dec. 31. The visitations will be today at Murdoch Funeral Home (5:00pm-7:00pm). The Trisagion Service will be at 6:00pm. The funeral service will be on Monday at 10:00am. After the grave site service, the Makaria will be served at church.

·       Thu, Jan 6 – HOLY THEOPHANY - 9:00am Orthros; 10:00am Divine Liturgy; & 10:15am GREAT BLESSIN OF THE WATER

·       Thu, Jan 6 – 5:30pm Great Vespers & Artoklasia for St. John the Baptist Feast Day

·       Fri, Jan 7 – Synaxis of St. John the Baptist – 9:00am Orthros; 10:00am Divine Liturgy

·       Sat, Jan 8th – 4:00pm Pan-Orthodox OUTDOOR BLESSING OF THE WATER on 1st Avenue Bridge Downtown & PROCESSION TO OUR CHURCH for 5:30pm Great Vespers. Bishop Demetrios will preside over both of these Services. As in previous year, we will have media coverage for the Outdoor Blessing of the Water and priests and faithful from neighboring Orthodox parishes will be joining us for both of these services, as well as the refreshments and fellowship that follows. The refreshments will be provided by our Philoptochos ladies, but we will need helping hands for the clean-up work that follows this evening’s fellowship. Please tell Helen McDonald how you can help.

·       Sun, Jan 9th – FEAST DAY CELEBRATIONS - 8:00am Orthros & 9:15am Divine Liturgy; Bishop Demetrios has to be in Chicago later in the afternoon so Our Services are earlier so that Bishop Demetrios can be with us for Our Church’s Feast Day Luncheon and the Cutting of the Vasilopita that will take place in our Church Hall immediately after the Divine Liturgy.

·       JAN. 9th FEAST DAY LUNCHEON and CUTTING OF THE VASILOPITA – The food for the luncheon will be catered by Katering Kitchen (Alex Hadjis), and the church is providing the drinks desserts and drinks. The Parish Council who is responsible for organizing this meal/event will be serving and cleaning up after the dinner, but help will be appreciated. If you’d like to help with serving or clean-up, speak to Konstantine K. or Michael C. Your donations collected by our Philoptochos chapter during the Vasilopita offering will go to support St. Michael’s Home.

·       THE ANNUAL PHILOPTOCHOS CHRISTMAS PARTY – is scheduled for Tue, Jan 11 at The Outback Steak House (6:00pm Cocktails & 6:30pm Dinner). Philoptochos members, prospective members and significant others are all invited but please RSVP with Helen McDonald.

·       OUR METROPOLIS OF CHICAGO FAMILY BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT – Fri-Sun, Feb. 11-13, 2011 – It doesn’t seem that we have enough committed interest to have our own team this year, but if you are still interested, you still have this week to let me know about it.

·       OTHER UPCOMING EVENTS – All Youth Sledding Event for HOPE, JOY, GOYA (Sun, Jan 16 at 1:30pm-4:00pm), HOPE Family Fun Day at Museum (Sat, Jan 22 at 11:00am-1:30pm)
